UNIC Asunción organized a conference on the United Nations International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. The commemoration also included an exhibition of photographs that displayed torturers and their victims during the Dictatorship of Gen. Alfredo Stroessner, which lasted between 1954 and 1989. Following the conference, the Paraguayan Senate gave half promulgation to the UN Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture.
