The event called "Sports.....Pathway to Peace" took place in Cairo on Monday 5 March 2007, with the participation of some representatives of the UN Country Team in Egypt.

According to the National Council of Sports more than 3000 youths participated in the 3-Kilometers walk on that day.

UNIC Lome (TOGO) in conjunction with the national radio and two private radio stations NANA FM and SPORT FM has organized a football match between four teams to commemorate the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Four teams of children from 12 to 16 participated. They were sponsored by four NGOs promoting the welfare of abandoned children or orphans (SOS village d'enfants; CAJED (Comité d'Aide des Jeunes en difficulté; AIDES (Action Internationale pour le Développement Economique et Social) ; CLORED (Centre de Loisirs et de Rééducation pour Enfants Défavorisés.) The final match was presided by the Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP.
