07 November 2013 – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today underscored the importance of preparing for extreme weather patterns in Burkina Faso, which as has much of the Sahel region, been impacted by climate change, and urged national leaders to work with the United Nations and the international community to obtain the necessary resources to mitigate and adapt to the impacts.
06 November 2013 – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim pledged today to support an initiative to improve women’s reproductive health and girls’ education in Africa’s Sahel region, and to invest $200 million in a new project to achieve these goals.
