07 December 2016 – Despite a peaceful and successful transition in the Central African Republic (CAR) earlier in 2016, the recent outbreak of violence there had demonstrated the extremely fragile situation in the country, the Secretary-General's Acting Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Regional Office for Central Africa (UNOCA), told the Security Council today.
07 December 2016 – Welcoming the announcement of the continuation of the mediation led by the Conférence épiscopale des églises du Congo to achieve a more inclusive consensus on the upcoming elections in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called on all political actors in the country to recommit themselves to this dialogue.
05 December 2016 – Expressing concern over the political situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as well as in light of the upcoming elections the United Nations Security Council has called on all stakeholders to ensure that the polls are conducted in a free, fair, credible, inclusive and transparent environment.
25 November 2016 – Wrapping up a visit to Africa’s Great Lakes region, a United Nations envoy today urged stakeholders in the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s (DRC) electoral process to do more to help ensure the country is able to hold peaceful elections.

08 November 2016 – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon condemned today’s attack against peacekeepers of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), which resulted in the death of one Congolese girl and injuries to 32 ‘blue helmets.’
02 November 2016 – The United Nations envoy for the Great Lakes region today highlighted the challenges posed by armed groups which continue to threaten the region's stability and called for concerted efforts to avert any reversal of the commendable gains it has achieved thus far.
