UN Special Rapporteurs

Independent experts or special rapporteurs are appointed by the Geneva-based UN Human Rights Council to examine and report back, in an unpaid capacity, on specific human rights themes. They also make annual presentations to the General Assembly committee dealing with human rights issues, known as the Third Committee. The UN News Centre caught up with some of the experts as they presented their reports in New York to ask them what their biggest concerns are in the areas in which they work.
