As part of its support plan for the Sahel, the United Nations has launched two initiatives: - Climate Smart Agriculture and the Renewable Energy Initiatives.
The initiatives, accessible here, were launched in in Bali, Indonesia, on 13 October and focus on two of the 21 flagship programmes identified by the UN System to ensure a more integrated approach to the Sahel crisis through joint programming and collaboration towards implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as well as the 2063 Agenda.
The initiatives aim to provide local communities, especially rural communities, with access to energy and economic opportunities, and therefore also empowering women and youth in Sahel countries.
