To empower women; to help in the training of rural leadership; to eradicate harmful traditional practices; to campaign against female genital mutilation.
Illustrative Project:
Training of village leaders. Training courses started in 1981 for a six month duration, then developed into a specialized one of four months. We published a 4 volume book to be the first and only training book for village leaders and trainers. It is used by all Government and NGOs working on training. Our training programme is in great demand. We have a special one-month training for pre-school teachers. We run the course annually. We respond to requests from international and government agencies, as well as train leaders from villages where we establish CROS and community centres.

In the area of community health, the organization runs a clinic for a large community of displaced people from South Sudan, in a camp 40 km south of Khartoum. The clinic provides basic health services and has a consultant physician, an MA, a mid-wife, a pharmacist and a lab technician. The clinic functions successfully.

SECS's environmental awareness project is a nationwide initiative including lectures, public meetings, radio programmes, publications, video films, children songs, exhibitions, and so on. SECS emphasizes awareness raising among school groups.
