Illustrative Project:
Performance of plays/drama on violence against women and children; awareness campaign on women's rights. EWON generated an income by catering at workshops, seminars and conferences. This income was used to buy sports equipment which we donated to schools, particularly the San Community. EWON believes this will help keep youth off the streets and will prevent crime and violence.

Illustrative Project:
The IMTL, together with the financial backing of the German Development Secretariat, GTZ established a revolving credit fund in 1994. Under this fund, the IMTL has supported 95 SMEs with an average loan size of N$17,000 up to date. Out of the 95 clients, 87% are still in business, 7 have fully paid back their loans, and the fund maintains a payback rate of 74%.

To challenge structures and stereotypes that oppress and divide women through our magazine "Sister Namibia," information dissemination through the resource center, and by running a gender education programme in schools. We are also involved in advocacy of issues important to women.
Illustrative Project:
We actively participated in the multimedia campaign on violence against women. We organized self-defense workshops and protest marches against violence. The result was a new rape bill which imposes stiff sentences on offenders. We coordinated the pro-choice alliance which aims to reform the law on abortion to make it available on demand within the first twelve weeks of pregnancy. A draft bill was proposed and is awaiting approval from the Cabinet.
