Purpose:
The Africa Peace Mission, an international charity based in Liberia, has been involved since early 1999 in three community-based peace transformation projects which incorporate teamwork and conflict management workshops into a more comprehensive program including health and development components. An important element of the organisation's work is to address the psychological traumas resulting from violent conflict. Staff members include a clinical psychologist and a psychotherapist with a background in social work.

Purpose:
The Catholic Justice and Peace Commission (JPC) has played an important role in monitoring and reporting on human rights violations in Liberia. JPC provides legal aid and coordinates the Human Rights Fact-Finding Documentation and Reporting Program. The JPC endeavours to work concretely for reconciliation in Liberia through its Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding programme, which include training, workshops, and the promotion of dialogue and tolerance at the local level, utilizing existing traditional mechanisms where possible.
Illustrative Project:
JPC publishes 'Situation Reports' and other regular bulletins, as well as broadcasting a radio program, 'The Justice and Peace Forum'.

Illustrative Project:
For the past seven years, Liberia has known no peace. In July 1997 national elections were held for the first time since the war. The organization participated in the rebuilding of the country. They asked other organizations for support, in particular to help them strengthen the organization and improve their capacity building.
