Purpose:
Organize women and raise their level of social and civic consciousness; eradicate illiteracy, provide skills training; expand credit schemes and saving programmes; improve women's health, introduce day care centers; enhance women's participation in decision-making and political leadership.
Illustrative Project:
Credit and savings: So far introduced in 45 villages where 1,456 women have received credit. Beneficiaries are mostly displaced women, refugees, returnees, and demobilized women fighters (most of whom are marginalized female heads of households). Our adult literacy programmes have so far educated 26,337 women since 1992.

To contribute to the well-balanced development of Eritrea's youth through the provision of information, education and services to address all issues affecting youth.
Illustrative Project:
Capacity building/training (held twice a year): In 1996 18-day training workshops for a total of 160 staff and volunteers was carried out. The training covered human resources management, budgeting and financial management, and advocacy. In 1997 the workshop covered communications and networking, report writing, record keeping, advocacy training and interviewing.

After the re-establishment of the Association as a national NGO in 1992, it has trained over 100 service providers and educated over 20,000 people on the concepts of FP/RH.

Incentives given to trained and experienced professionals to set up their own business back in their country thereby providing self-employment and employment for their fellow country people. The professional experience gained during their sojourn in industrialized countries thus becomes a means of technology transfer.
Illustrative Project:
Since 1991, 600 former refugees and their families were supported to establish themselves in Eritrea; 430 young entrepreneurs setting up new business which provide employment for 1665 people.
