declare and undertake before the Chairman of the
Board of Governors and before the members of the
Board of Directors, that I will abide by the
provisions of the Agreement Establishing the
African Development Bank, its By-Laws and
Regulations and that I will discharge my duties
and functions as laid down in those Laws and
Regulations with loyalty, discretion and
conscience; and will regulate my conduct as
President, with the interest of the Bank only in
view, in accordance with the provisions of
Articles 37 and 38 of the Agreement Establishing
the African Development Bank. So help me
God"

Elected President of the African Development Bank

September 2005 – The African Development Bank
(ADB) Group has a new President. Mr. Donald
Kaberuka took the oath of office today in a
ceremony at the institution’s Temporary Relocation
Agency in Tunis. The occasion was witnessed by the
Chair and members of the Bank’s Board of
Governors, the Board of Directors, members of the
diplomatic corps in Tunis and staff of the
institution.
The ADB
is issuing on a daily basis a newsletter
distributed to participants attending the Bank

Donald Kaberuka, Assumes Office on 1
September The 7th elected
President of the African Development Bank (ADB)
Group, Mr. Donald Kaberuka, will be sworn in on
1 September 2005, at the Temporary Relocation
Agency (ATR) in Tunis. The ceremony will be
witnessed by the Chair of the Board of
Governors, members of the Board of Directors as
well as management and staff of the Bank.

Governors thanks President Ben Ali Tunis, 27 July 2005 – On the occasion
of the Extraordinary Meeting of the African
Development Bank (ADB) held in Tunis on 21 July
2005, the ADB Board of Governors has adopted a
vote of thanks to Mr. Zine El Abidine Ben Ali,
President of the Tunisian Republic, to the
Tunisian Government and people in recognition of
the excellent conditions offered to ensure the
success of the Extraordinary Meeting for the
Election of the 8th President of the ADB.

Infrastructure Programme is on a fast track, the

said on Wednesday. “Since 2003 I am pleased
to note that good progress has been made in the
financing of a number of investment

07-SEP-05 ADF Supports Health
Services Project in Sierra Leone with a grant of
US$ 25 Million
Tunis, 7 September 2005 - The
Board of Directors of the African Development
Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the
African Development Bank (ADB) Group, on
Wednesday in Tunis, approved a grant of 17
million Units of Account (UA*), equivalent to
US$ 24.81 million, to finance the strengthening
of the District Health Services Project in
Sierra Leone.

aide alimentaire d’urgence au
Niger
Tunis, le 8 août 2005 – La
Banque africaine de développement vient
d’octroyer un don de 500.000 US$ à titre d’aide
alimentaire d’urgence aux sinistrés de la
sécheresse et de l’invasion acridienne du Niger
en réponse à l’appel à l’aide internationale
lancé par ce pays.
28-JUL-05 La Bad contribue au
renforcement de la bonne gouvernance au
Gabon
Libreville, le 28 juillet 2005 –
La Banque africaine de développement (Bad)
contribue à la consolidation de l’état de droit
et à l’amélioration de la gestion des affaires
publiques au Gabon. Le représentant régional
résident de la Bad à Libreville, M.Mamadou
Lamine N’Dongo et la représentante résidente du
Programme des Nations Unies pour le
Développement (PNUD), Mme Fatoumata Bintou
Djibo, ont signé à Libreville deux accords de
don d’un montant total de 294 600 dollars EU
soit 160 millions de FCFA pour la gestion des
ressources accordés par la Bad au Gouvernement
gabonais, en vue de l’élaboration du programme
national de bonne gouvernance
(PNBG).
