The Oceanic Circle discusses the importance of the oceans within the global life support system, the cultural dimension of ocean space, the oceans and warfare, the wealth of the ocean and its market value and the ethical and spiritual dimension of the emerging economics of sustainable development in the oceans. It also analyzes the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and tries to capture the emerging shapes of ocean governance, examining the regimes established by the various post-United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), agreements and action programmes. |
