Population Distribution and Migration

The processes of migration and population are intricately related to important economic, social, cultural, political and environmental factors that have brought them to the forefront of international consciousness. Migration, internal and international, involves millions of people, yet there is a gap existing in the knowledge and understanding of the migration process.

This publication presents numerous papers from experts in the field covering the broad areas of: patterns of population distribution and development; social, environmental and policy aspects; international migration trends and prospects; and social, economic and political aspects of international migration.

Population Distribution and Migration also presents papers from such bodies as: the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the Economic and Social Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, the International Labour Organization, the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements, the Food and Agriculture Organization, the World Health Organization and the International Organization for Migration.
