World Urbanization Prospects
The 2001 Revision

This publication presents estimates and projections for the period 1950-2030, of the size and growth of urban and rural populations for all countries and for all urban agglomerations that had at least 750,000 inhabitants in 2000.

Apart from the wealth of statistics presented, it also analyzes the prospects of urbanization and city growth in the world; describes the methodology used for estimations and projections; and lists the sources of data that underlie the estimation of urban population.
