While publications can be ordered directly from New York or Geneva, they can also be purchased from selected agents, distributors and bookstores.

Payment

For your convenience, we accept American Express, VISA, Mastercard and JCB credit cards, cheques and money orders. Credit card orders may be placed by telephone, fax or e-mail. Account holders should submit their orders by mail, fax or e-mail including an authorized purchase order number and bill-to account number. For non-account customers, prepayment is required with all orders.

Prices, Discounts, Shipping and Handling

All prices are quoted in US Dollars and are subject to change without notice. UNESCO Book Coupons can also be used to purchase all books and periodicals of the United Nations. A shipping and handling fee will be added to each order. Information on shipping and handling can be found on the order form at the back of the catalogue.

Special shipping instructions can usually be accommodated and these will be charged on an individual basis.

Booksellers will be granted retail discounts. For information on discounts, please contact us.

Opening an Account

United Nations Publications offers accounts to agents, booksellers, universities, libraries and institutions who intend to order publications on a continuing basis.

To establish an account, the following prerequisites need to be met:
1) fill out UN account application form ;
2) submit bank references and at least two current credit references;
3) prepay for the first year.

Following satisfactory reference and credit check an account will be opened and at that time credit terms will be established.

Maintaining an Account

Customers who have a credit account with United Nations Publications should submit their orders by mail, fax or e-mail with an authorized purchase order number. The account number must be quoted on all orders, claims and correspondence. When remitting payment for invoices, invoice numbers must be clearly quoted. This will enable the efficient processing of orders. All balances must be paid on a timely basis in accordance with the credit terms issued.

Credit Terms

1. A customer's credit limit is determined by their credit history.
2. Payment in full is due 30 days from date of invoice for US and Canadian customers and 120 days from date of invoice for all other customers.
3. Interest on overdue accounts accrues at the rate of
1 1/2% per month (18% APR).

Deposit Accounts

Any customer, non-account or account holder, wishing to establish a deposit account should submit their request in writing. A minimum initial deposit of US$500.00 should always be maintained. Upon receipt of your deposit, an account number will be assigned.

Returns Policy

Returns are permitted for books bought directly from United Nations Publications in New York and Geneva under the following conditions:

1. Retail and wholesale customers: Books must be returned no sooner than 90 days from date of invoice and no longer than one year from date of invoice.
All other customers: Books must be returned within 60 days from the date of the invoice.
2. Books must be in resaleable condition.
3. For full credit, a copy of the invoice must be enclosed with returns. Returns without invoice will receive a 40% refund/credit of the gross invoiced amount.
4. Video cassettes, CD-ROMs, computer diskettes and other electronic products can be returned for replacement only. No returns will be accepted for posters or gift items. All items must be returned at customer's expense.
5. Returns by regular mail from the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean and Asia and the Pacific should be sent by traceable means to:
