Cleaner Production in the Asia Pacific
Economic Cooperation Region
The theory behind cleaner production is simply a preventative approach to
environmental protection. This publication discusses the efforts being made
towards cleaner production in countries of the APEC region by large and
small industries. A sequel to "Cleaner Production Worldwide",
it shows how regional firms are achieving both environmental protection
and economic benefits from practicing cleaner production. The issues discussed
include: saving water and waste in food processing; recycling coolant and
treating oily wastewater from machining; reducing waste in polyester production
and recycling, substitution and fibre recovery.
