The United Nations Department of Public Information will hold the first universal observance of the International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust at United Nations Headquarters on 27 January, the date in 1945 when the largest Nazi death camp in Auschwitz-Birkenau (Poland) was liberated by Soviet troops.
