UN Chronicle E-Alert                                                                               2004, No. 17
Every year in September, the United Nations General Assembly begins its session with a high-level general debate that offers Member States an opportunity to voice their individual concerns on global challenges and international events. Heads of State and Government address the Assembly on critical issues facing their region and the world. Following the general debate, Member States' representatives discuss in formal and informal meetings the Assembly's agenda and vote on resolutions that deal with the economic, political, security and social issues that affect the international community.

Below are UN Chronicle features on general debates from the current and previous sessions of the General Assembly, as well as links to other related sites.
