The United Nations Department of Public Information has initiated a series of seminars entitled "Unlearning Intolerance" that will examine different manifestations of intolerance
and explore ways in which education and civil society can help overcome them. The first
meeting in the series, held at UN Headquarters on 21 June 2004, focused on
"Confronting anti-Semitism: Education for Tolerance and Understanding". The day-long
event engaged experts, religious leaders and wider civil society in a discussion on how
best to meet this challenge.
Below are articles and links from the UN Chronicle and its online edition covering this first
ever United Nations conference on anti-Semitism, as well as several selections from the
magazine related to the broader issue of tolerance.
