The UNESCO/Keizo Obuchi Research Fellowship Programme, is offering twenty fellowships, each worth $7,500, to young post-graduates from developing countries up to 40 years of age who are researchers in one of four fields: the environment, inter-cultural dialogue, information and communication technologies, and peaceful conflict resolution.
The fellowship programme, named after the late Japanese Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi who was known for his commitment to development issues, is being financed by Japan through funds-in-trust dedicated to capacity-building of human resources.
Applicants should apply through their country's National Commission for UNESCO, which will choose two candidates. A special committee of experts in the four fields will review the candidatures and make proposals to the UNESCO Director-General. The deadline by which all applications must reach UNESCO Headquarters in Paris is 17 March 2003.
