UN Chronicle E-Alert                                                                               2002, No. 2

As we approach the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 11 September, our memories go back to that tragic moment when thousands of our fellow human beings were barbarously killed. This time for reflection reminds us to continue to realistically assess our role in defeating international terrorism, as the Security Council will do in adopting a statement against terrorism during a high-level session to be held on the first-year anniversary of the attack. The UN Chronicle has published various features related to this tragedy and informed its readers about the steps taken by the United Nations to combat terrorism. This edition of the UN Chronicle Newsletter focuses on articles on international terrorism that have appeared in recent issues.
