Ask students to:
![]() The Charter of the United Nations Activity: Global Concerns Sit children in groups of no more than six. Get one child to write down all the concerns that members of the group have about the world. As a group, discuss which are the most important concerns and come to a collective agreement on the top three. Put a three next to what the group thinks is the most important, a two by the one that is second most important, and a one beside the concern that is least important to the group. Then think about how you came to agree on these three: did you make convincing arguments and reach a collective decision? did one or two people force them on the group? or did you pick them because an adult or some other person had talked about them? Put together the top three concerns of all the groups in the class. Work out a way to agree to the top four concerns in the class. Identify some recent conflicts. Then discuss their causes. How do these compare to your own arguments or conflicts? |
