The members of the Security Council strongly condemned the recent increased fighting in Somalia, reiterated their full support for the Transitional Federal Government, its efforts to achieve peace, security and reconciliation through the Djibouti Peace Process, and for the work of AMISOM.  The members of the Security Council expressed their continued appreciation for the commitment of troops by the Governments of Burundi and Uganda.

The members of the Security Council stressed the importance of international assistance to train, equip and build the capacity of the Somali security forces and called upon the international community to provide additional resources to AMISOM in order for it to better fulfil its mandate.
