Note:
1. With respect to procurement statistics on supply sources, it should be underlined that country of supply with respect of goods is determined on the basis of the location of the supplier whereas in the case of services, this is determined on the basis of the location of the firm's headquarters.

2. Country assignments are based on the location of the supplier offering the goods and not based on the country where the goods are actually produced for more information on rules of origin, Please see the World Trade Organization web site . Goods made in country A, but sold to the UN by a company based in country B, are attributed to country B. In this respect, it should be noted that $43 million in airline and shipping expenditures were attributed to the United States of America. A major part of these costs were ultimately remitted to non-US carriers. In the case of air travel, these payments are ticketed through UN's Travel Agency and Freight is charged through the Freight Forwarder based in New York.

3. There is no established convention for the designation of "developed" and "developing countries" or areas in the United Nations system. In common practice, Japan in Asia, Canada and the United States in northern America, Australia and New Zealand in Oceania and Europe are considered "developed" regions or areas. Designation of geographical regions or areas and transition countries are based on the composition of macro geographical (continental) regions, geographical sub-regions, and selected economic and other groupings as of 29 June 2006 as published by the Statistics Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

4. This table represents both PO issued by field missions against system contracts, established by UNHQ, and other PO raised under mission delegation of procurement of authority.
