I used to get a quarterly advance cheque from the Tax Unit which I forwarded to New York State and City. Why do I now only get a statement but no cheque?

Starting the second quarter of 2003, New York State and City quarterly estimated tax advances are paid through direct deposit systems for credit to each taxpayer account. Payments for staff members residing in Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia will continue to be issued as cheques to staff members for forwarding to the appropriate authorities to meet income tax obligations.
