ACCOUNTS DIVISION BRIEFING
ON REIMBURSEMENT OF U.S. INCOME TAXES
ON UNITED NATIONS SALARIES AND EMOLUMENTS

The Accounts Division is pleased to announce that staff members of the Income Tax Unit will be conducting a tax briefing session for Staff Members based in New York on the date listed below. Staff members who are liable to pay income taxes to the United States tax authorities on United Nations salaries and emoluments are invited to attend.

The presentation will provide general information regarding the UN's tax reimbursement procedures and the related filing requirements, and will provide time for general questions. United States taxpaying staff members, who joined the UN during 2012 or 2013, are urged to attend this briefing session as are those staff members who desire a review of the filing requirements with the United Nations and the United States tax authorities. Staff members should review the United Nations information circular ST/IC/2013/8 prior to attending the briefing session.

A VTC (Video Teleconference) session will be held on 21 Feb 2013 between 8:00 am to 10:00 am NY time for colleagues in overseas locations. Mission and OAH focal points will be contacted shortly with full details. If deemed necessary a second VTC session will be held during the week March 4-8.

Staff members are reminded that the deadlines for submission of requests to the UN for reimbursement of 2012 income taxes will be 1 March 2013 for staff serving in the United States, and 1 April 2013 for staff serving elsewhere.
