Secretary-General approves Distribution Plan for Phase VII

On 12 January 2000, the Secretary-General wrote to the President of the Security Council, Ambassador Richard C. Holbrooke (USA), advising that he has approved, as revised, the Distribution Plan submitted by the Government of Iraq under the terms of Security Council resolution 1281 adopted on 10 December 1999.
The total allocation for the humanitarian programme is $3.522 billion with $1.05 billion earmarked for food. The other main allocations are $300 million for medicines and medical equipment; $198 million for water and sanitation; $321 million for electricity and $600 million for oil spare parts.
