Update for the period
25 to 31 December 1999
During the week to 31 December 1999, Iraq exported
a total of 18.6 million barrels of crude oil, in
fifteen loadings, for an estimated revenue of $419
million dollars. Since oil exports under phase
VII began there have been 33.2 million barrels
exported for an estimated revenue of $742 million.
In phase VII, the Security Council's 661 Committee
has approved a total of 55 contracts for the sale of
Iraqi oil with a total volume of 184.7 million
barrels (104.1m Basrah Light, 80.6m Kirkuk).
The Office of the Iraq Programme has now received
1346 contracts for humanitarian supplies worth $2.84
billion under phase VI. Of the 926 contracts
circulated to the Security Council's 661 Committee,
635 worth $1.3 billion have been approved. So far $1.57
billion worth of contracts for humanitarian supplies
have been approved under phase IV and $1.5 billion
under phase V.
At present there are 447 contracts worth $1.095
billion dollars for the purchase of humanitarian
supplies on hold: in phase IV, 22 contracts
worth $36.6 million dollars are on hold; in phase V,
176 contracts worth $515 million and in phase VI, 249
contracts worth $543 million.
In Phases IV to VI, OIP has received 1918
contracts worth $1.2 billion for the supply of oil
industry spare parts and equipment. Of these
contracts, the 661 Committee has approved 864 worth $433.2
million and put 433 worth $213.2 million on hold. (note: a full listing of humanitarian and

Meanwhile supplies continue to arrive in Iraq. Arrivals
over the past week include: 42 thousand tonnes
of wheat, 4858 tonnes of detergents and soaps, 1771
tonnes of cooking oil and 300 tonnes of pulses.
