There are two elements in reporting. The first is a formal one. Programmes
report on performance to member States by way of the biennial Programme
Performance Report. Reporting is by way of the Statements of
accomplishment/Results achieved, which are derived from the Accomplishment
Accounts. Accomplishment accounts should be based on the results of the
programme assessment or self-evaluation(s). For this purpose, the focus is
on whether the performance indicators show that the expected accomplishment
(results/outcomes) has been achieved during the biennium. We will explore
how to prepare the accomplishment account.
The second element is internal. The results can be used for two different
purposes. First, they should enable programme managers to make mid-course
corrections in their programmes to increase the likelihood that the
anticipated results will be obtained. Second, they can be used to help
refine the strategic planning for future budget periods.
