Words from the inaugural Editor:
“I
am pleased to inform you that we, the Alumni of Asia-Pacific, have managed to
organize a newsletter, published quarterly.
The very
first edition was published at the end of last month, after a very long process
and discussion.
We
realize this publication is far form perfect but we believe this can be a good
start for something better in the future.
In
addition, this small idea may hopefully stimulate similar and even better ideas
from alumni in the other regions.
Being the
representative of the Alumni, I will be happy to work with all of you to
organize such publication for all alumni.
With good
collaboration, I believe we can do it.
With
regard to the Asia Pacific newsletter, please feel free to comment and suggest.
Due to
limited ability and experience, you might find many things to improve in the
newsletter. Please kindly let me know.
I
personally thank everybody contributing their ideas in this edition. I am
looking forward to having more contributions from you for the next editions.
I wish
you all a best of luck with everything you are doing.
Sincerely
yours, Andi”
“Dear
UN-Nippon Alumni and Fellows,
I am very pleased to announce a new and
extremely important element of the United Nations – Nippon Foundation of
Japan
Fellowship
Programme: The Alumni Programme.
With the continued generous support of the
Nippon Foundation of Japan, we will now be in a position to start developing
activities for the Alumni.
The objective
of these activities will be to provide you with continuing knowledge
development and networking events,
as well as
opportunities to participate as Alumni in various high-profile external events.
The Alumni
Programme will also allow for the participation of the Fellowship Academic
Co-supervisors in many of these activities.
The Alumni Programme will be developed in a
stepwise manner and in consultation with the Alumni. The Alumni Representative
will be the
primary point of contact for the Alumni, and
we will also periodically communicate directly with all Alumni. Of course, you
should all feel
free to continue to communicate your ideas
and experiences through the Fellows’ News Group and/or directly to me.
I am certain
you will all agree that the establishment of the Alumni Programme is an
important opportunity for each and every one of us, and
I count on your continued dedication in
taking full advantage. I am also sure that I speak for all in expressing our
heartfelt gratitude to The
Nippon Foundation of Japan for its continued
generous support, vision and trust in us.”
