Ad Hoc Open-ended Informal Working Group to
study issues relating to the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological
diversity beyond areas of national jurisdiction

    The fifth meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Informal Working Group to study issues relating to the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity beyond areas of national jurisdiction will take place from 7 to 11 May 2012, in New York, in accordance with General Assembly resolution 66/231 of 24 December 2011, paragraph 168.

Invitations
Invitations to the meeting will be sent in early 2012.

Working documents
The draft agenda, draft format and annotated provisional agenda and organization of work, as well as information for participants will be posted on this website in due course.

Side events
Requests for bookings of lunch time side events (1:15 to 2:45pm) may be addressed to the Secretary of the Ad Hoc Informal Working Group, at doalos@un.org, between 10 January and 14 March 2012, with an indication of the title, organizing institution(s) and preferred date for the event.

The Division will confirm and inform the requesting institutions of the schedule of their events shortly after 14 March.

Owing to the limited number of slots available, the Division may not be able to accommodate all requests for side events and, therefore, reserves the right to suggest the organization of joint side events should competing requests be received for the same day. Should the number of requests exceed the number of available days, the Division may also exercise its discretion in selecting side events with the view to ensuring variety in the topics covered by the side events.
