The German Translation Section of the United Nations was established pursuant to General Assembly resolution 3355 (XXIX) of 18 December 1974. Through its work, the Section contributes to promoting international understanding, disseminating information on the goals, functions and activities of the United Nations and facilitating the work of governmental and non-governmental institutions in the German-speaking countries.
