Activities to Support the Implementation of the Agenda for Action on Social Development in the ESCAP Region

The Fifth Asian and Pacific Ministerial Conference on Social Development was held to review and assess the progress achieved towards attaining the goals and targets of the Agenda for Action on Social Development in the ESCAP Region.

NGO Forum on Social Development, Kuala Lumpur, July 1997
The forum, coorganized with the International Council on Social Welfare and the International Council of Voluntary Agencies aimed at enhancing participation of the NGOs and private sector in implementation of the Agenda and for the preparatory activities for the Fifth Asian and Pacific Ministerial Conference on Social Development.

Publications and information
Report, studies and information materials and exhibition in conjunction with the Ministerial Conference will be prepared to heighten awareness and national capabilities in addressing the multisectoral aspects of social development.

National technical workshops
In various countries, advisory services will be provided and national technical workshops will be convened to provide guidance for the formulation of effective national plans, strategies and implementating mechanisms towards attaining the goals and targets of the above regional Social Development Agenda.
