Written in journalistic style and presented as a miniature newspaper, Population Headliners covers the entire spectrum of population activities of interest to professionals and laymen interested in this and related fields. For example, it contains concise and timely information on the activities of ESCAP and UNFPA of relevance to the region, such as highlights of on-going or completed projects and programmes, reports on meetings already held, announcements of forthcoming meetings, workshops or training opportunities and personnel movements, as well as repackaged material based on technical studies of the Division written in language that is easy to read and understand.
The reasoning is that, in addition to their needs for technical information for policy and programme purposes, policy makers, planners and administrators need general information to provide a context for their work.
