Undertakes policy-oriented studies on the potential for the expansion of intraregional trade and economic cooperation;

Disseminates the results of such studies to members and associate members through workshops, seminars, and/or by rendering advisory services;

Promotes trade efficiency policies and measures and assists in the adoption of new technological development through the provision of advisory services, seminars, workshops and meetings;

Provides technical assistance to members and associate members on trade negotiations at the international, regional and subregional levels and on strengthening regional trade and economic cooperation;

Undertakes special studies and provides appropriate technical assistance services for strengthening the trade capacity of the disadvantaged economies in transition, land-locked, least developed and island developing countries of the region and their integration into the international trading system.
