Energy Resources Section has a staff of five professionals with backgrounds in electrical and mechanical engineering, economics and business administration. ERS staff specialize in the following areas:
  • energy planning and energy policy;
  • energy environment interface;
  • electric power system management;
  • natural gas and petroleum utilization;
  • renewable sources of energy and their commercialization;
  • promotion of efficiency in energy end use.

Energy Resources Section is supported by three General Service staff.


Advisory Services

Energy Resources Section provides advisory services upon request of member governments.

The Regional Adviser on Energy is available to provide advisory services on energy planning, power sector development, energy pricing and other related issues as requested by governments.

An Expert on Energy Conservation has been seconded to ESCAP by the Japan International Cooperation Agency. He is also available to provide advisory services as well as technical expertise in carrying out energy audits and efficiency measures in industries. His specialization is in thermal energy use in refineries and similar industrial processes.
