In Sudan, obstructed labor is considered one of the major problems that lead to maternal morbidity and mortality. West Darfur region is one of the most affected regions in Sudan because of the lack of paved roads, medical staff and deficient health infrastructures. During the UNFPA-supported surgery campaign held from 15 to 27 May 2007, 56 patients came to the Fistula Center. Forty-seven underwent successful operations. Zalingei, Sudan. 24 May 2007.
