A young woman is hoping to make the minimal height (1.60m) required for a woman to register to become a Haitian National Police (HNP) recruit.
Registration for the recruitment of new HNP officers for the 18th promotion takes place from 7 to 16 November. To facilitate this process, 7 registration centers are open in the Port-au-Prince area, one of which is the Police Academy in Frere, where there is a constant stream of mostly men lining up to register. There are over 30,000 applicants, of this number 120 women have registered at the Academy. Approximately 600 people are processed daily under the supervision of MINUSTAH's UNPOL.
