MINUSTAH's Electoral Assistance representatives along with Organization of American States (OAS) representatives attempt to open the first Electoral Registration Bureau in Cite Soleil, a seaside slum with a population near 300,000 in Port-au-Prince. Cite Soleil is virtually controlled by armed bandits, therefore, MINUSTAH and the OAS face a great challenge to open this particular site.
At Check Point #13, which protects the Bureau d'Inscription, the Peruvian Battalion checks people and vehicles for weapons and ammunition.
