International Day of Solidarity
with the Palestinian People (29 November): Solemn meeting
in the Trusteeship Council Chamber at 10:00 a.m. Speakers will include
the Secretary-General, the President of the General Assembly and
the President of the Security Council. Other activities organized
in New York in connection with the observance of the Day will include
a Palestinian exhibit at 6:00 p.m. at the GA Public Lobby sponsored
by the Committee on the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People
and presented by the Permanent Observer Mission of Palestine to
the United Nations; and film screening of " The Color of Olives"
in the DHL Auditorium at 1:00 p.m. (duration 2 hours).

The
Diary of Jay-Z: Water for Life will premiere at the United
Nations on 16 November launching a campaign about the world's water
crisis (6:30-7:30pm, Trusteeship Council Chamber). Speaking at the
screening will be Ann Veneman, UNICEF Executive Director; Stephanie
Dujarric, Spokesperson for the Secretary-General; Peter Gleick,
President, Pacific Institute; Congressman Earl Blumenauer; Christina
Norman, President of MTV; Sway Calloway, MTV News Corespondent;
Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter, President of Dew Jam Record; and Arunabha
Ghosh, co-author of the 2006 HDR. During the event, HDR cards with
the button "At least 20" will be distributed to the audience.

Human
Rights Day (10 December): The theme of this year's Human
Rights Day is Fighting Poverty: A Matter of Obligation Not of
Charity. A website in all official UN languages, containing
press materials for the Day and other background material will soon
be launched. There is a space on the website for posting events
that are being organized for the Day. UNICs who wish to have their

DHL:
A group of delegations from Kazakhstan will visit UNHQ to participate
in a series of events on 17 November 2006. From 10:30-10:50, a ceremony
of the presentation of two books (including one written by the President
of Kazakhstan) to the Dag Hammarskjöld Library will be held
at the Woodrow Wilson Reading Room of the Library. From 11:30 a.m
-1:00 p.m., there will be a panel discussion on the theme "Inter-ethnic
and inter-religious accord: sharing experience of Kazakhstan"
at Conference Room 6.

in the Guadalajara International Book Fair, Nov 25 November - 3
December 2006, in Guadalajara, Mexico. This book fair, organized
by the Guadalajara University, is the world's largest marketplace
