:: United Nations Seminar on Assistance to the Palestinian People
    Amman, 19 and 20 February 2008

The Seminar was held under the auspices of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.  By organizing this event, the Committee wished to build on the positive momentum created by the Annapolis Conference and the Paris Donors’ Conference and support all efforts to mobilize international assistance to the Palestinian people.  The Seminar provided an opportunity to assess the scope of the socio-economic and humanitarian emergency in the Occupied Palestinian Territory; discussed the United Nations, international and regional response to the needs of the Palestinian people; and exchanged views on the immediate and longer-term steps that needed to be taken on the road to Palestinian economic recovery.  Invited to the Seminar were internationally renowned experts, including Israelis and Palestinians, as well as representatives of United Nations Members and Observers, intergovernmental organizations, the United Nations system, civil society and the media.
