Committee delegation holds meetings with Indonesian officials in Jakarta

During its stay in Jakarta in connection with the United Nations Asian and Pacific Meeting on the Question of Palestine held on 8 and 9 June 2009 under the auspices of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, the delegation of the Committee was received by H.E. Mr. Triyono Wibowo, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Indonesia.  Also, the delegation met with the Speaker of the House of Representative of Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Agung Laksono.

The Committee delegation included: H.E. Mr. Paul Badji, Permanent Representative of Senegal to the United Nations and Head of the Delegation; H.E. Mr. Hamidon Ali, Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the United Nations; H.E. Mrs. Kanika Phommachanh, Permanent Representative of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to the United Nations; H.E. Mr. Jorge Leon Cruz, Ambassador of Cuba to Indonesia; and H.E. Mr. Riyad Mansour, Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations.

Committee delegation holds a series of meetings with Cypriot officials in Nicosia

May 2009

During its stay in Nicosia in connection with the United Nations International Meeting in Support of Israeli-Palestinian Peace held on 6 and 7 May under the auspices of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, the delegation of the Committee was received by the President of Cyprus, H.E. Mr. Dimitris Christofias, and by the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Cyprus, H.E. Mr. Marios Garoyian.  The delegation also met with the Mayor of Nicosia, Ms. Eleni Mavrou.

The Committee delegation included:  H.E. Mr. Paul Badji, Permanent Representative of Senegal to the United Nations and Head of the Delegation; H.E. Mr. Zahir Tanin, Permanent Representative of Afghanistan to the UN and Vice Chairman of the Committee; H.E. Committee delegation holds a series of meetings with Egyptian officials in Cairo

The Committee delegation included:  H.E. Mr. Paul Badji, Permanent Representative of Senegal to the United Nations and Head of the Delegation; H.E. Mr. Zahir Tanin, Permanent Representative of Afghanistan to the UN and Vice Chairman of the Committee; and H.E. Mr. Savior Borg, Permanent Representative of Malta to the UN and Rapporteur of the Committee. 

During its stay in Cairo in connection with the United Nations Seminar on Assistance to the Palestinian People, the delegation of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People had several meetings at the Egyptian People’s Assembly.  It also visited the Palestine Hospital administered by the Palestine Red Crescent Hospital and spoke with Palestinian victims of the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip.  The delegation met with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States as well as with the President and officials of the Egyptian Red Crescent Society.

Committee delegation meets with the President and Foreign Minister of Malta

The delegation of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People met with H.E. Dr. Edward Fenech-Adami, President of Malta, and H.E. Dr. Tonio Borg, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Malta, during its stay in the country in connection with the United Nations International Meeting on the Question of Palestine held in Qawra, Malta, on 3 and 4 June 2008. They discussed how Malta and the Committee were contributing to efforts at promoting a just and lasting settlement of the question of Palestine and supporting the current political process.

 

 Committee delegation visits Palestine refugee camps in Jordan

21 February 2008

 The delegation of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People visited the Husn and Irbid refugee camps in Jordan on 21 February 2008, during its stay in the country in connection with the United Nations Seminar on Assistance to the Palestinian People held under the auspices of the Committee in Amman on 19 and 20 February 2008.  The camps are part of the ten official camps in Jordan where the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) operates and provides services to some 300,000 registered Palestine refugees.  The purpose of the visit was to take a first-hand look at the reality faced by Palestine refugees, as well as the work of UNRWA aimed at improving their living conditions.
