700 ADDED ENTRY - PERSONAL NAME

Authority-controlled field.

In speech index records, each time a speaker makes a statement during a session of the General Assembly, Security Council and Economic and Social Council, the authority-controlled name as found in the UNBIS Name Authority File is entered in 700 $a. If an UNBIS authority record for a personal name does not exist, a new authority record is created.

The 700 field is not repeatable.

The personal name is generally in the format of surname followed by forename.

In other cases, the given name is entered or the name that represents a family, clan, dynasty, house, or other such group and may be formatted in direct or inverted order.

Examples:

700 1_ $a Albert, Crown Prince of Monaco
700 1_ $a Mswati III, King of Swaziland
700 1_ $a Saud al-Faisal, Prince of Saudi Arabia

Subfield code $g - Miscellaneous information (NR):

When a speaker makes a statement on behalf of an entity (Organization, Agency, etc.), the country of affiliation of the speaker is entered in subfield $g enclosed within parenthesis.

Example:

700 1_ $a Hunte, Julian $g (Saint Lucia)
710 2_ $a UN. General Assembly (58th sess. : 2003-2004). President
[In A/58/PV.61, Mr. Hunte from Saint Lucia spoke as the President of the 58th General Assembly]
