How to Find Secretary-General's Reports
Introduction
The Secretary-General of the United Nations produces reports on the topics of interest to the main bodies of the organization.
- More information on reports to the General Assembly (GA);
- More information on reports to the Security Council (SC);
- More information on reports to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
Secretary-General's reports are some of the most commonly cited United Nations documents.
Searching by Title or Subject
It is possible to search for many of the Secretary-General's reports using the United Nations Bibliographic Information System (UNBISnet). Where available, UNBISnet provides full-text links to the reports.
You can access UNBISnet from the Documents link on the UN home page.
To search by title or subject use:
- the title field (i.e. "mission Afghanistan"), or
- the subject field (i.e. "violence against women"), and
- select the B15 Tag - reports/letters (UN Secretary-General) - under type of material.
Searching by Full Text
The Official Document System of the United Nations (ODS) provides full-text searching of all reports to the Security Council and reports to the General Assembly and Economic and Social Council since 1993.

To search for Secretary-General's Report in ODS:
- type "Secretary-General report" in the World of title box, and
- the full-text search box (i.e "Algiers bombing" or "unite to end violence against women")
