Finding Resolutions by Number or Symbol and Title or Subject

If you know the number of a resolution, e.g. General Assembly resolution 62/24, you can locate it by accessing the United Nations Bibliographic Information System (UNBISnet).

To search for the resolution, you will need to build a UN Document Symbol:

  • For General Assembly resolutions place A/RES/ before the resolution number, e.g. A/RES/62/24.
  • For Security Council resolutions place S/RES/ before the resolution number, e.g. S/RES/1801.

You can also search for resolutions by title or subject, e.g. "Multilingualism".

You can access UNBISnet from the Documents link on the UN home page.

Finding Voting Records

Once you know the UN Document Symbol for a resolution, e.g. A/RES/62/24, you can use the Voting Records database in the United Nations Bibliographic Information System (UNBISnet) to discover which countries voted for that resolution.

You can also search the Voting Records database by keyword, e.g. "Human Rights".
