"Holocaust Awareness and the Prevention of Genocide". Opening statements: Mr. Raymond Sommereyns, Director, Outreach Division, Department of Public Information; H.E. Ambassador Gabor Brodí, Permanent Representative of Hungary to the UN. Representatives of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Living History Forum and Yad Vashem will highlight successful national outreach programmes already in place as well as resources available from leading institutions.

An art and photographic exhibition “Indigenous Peoples: Honouring the Past, Present and Future” is presented in celebration of the 5th Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. Opening remarks by José Antonio Ocampo, Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, and Victoria Tauli-Corpuz, Chairperson of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. Cultural presentations by indigenous artists from Australia, Norway, the Russian Federation, the United States and Vietnam will follow.

This concert is the premier performance of the Asian Artists & Concerts Orchestra, which consists of 60 young Asian musicians from a number of Asian countries, including China, Japan and Korea.
