An art and photographic exhibition “Indigenous Peoples: Honouring the Past, Present and Future” is presented in celebration of the 5th Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. Opening remarks by José Antonio Ocampo, Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, and Victoria Tauli-Corpuz, Chairperson of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. Cultural presentations by indigenous artists from Australia, Norway, the Russian Federation, the United States and Vietnam will follow.
Organized by the Department of Public Information in cooperation with the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues Secretariat. Sponsored by the NGO Committee on the UN International Decade of the World’s Indigenous Peoples and Tribal Link Foundation.

UNIC New Delhi will launch a music CD of a new raga entitled "Shanti Prerna" (an inspiration for peace) written by renowned Indian classical musicians Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia and Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma" as their unique contribution to the 60th anniversary of the UN. Proceeds from the sale of this CD will fund UN development projects in India. |

"Uniting the world against AIDS" joint exhibition including "Living with AIDS" - a photo exhibit with photography by Jonathan Torgovnik and text by Geoffrey Cowley for Newsweek Magazine; "AIDS Quilt" - with each quilt panel memorializing the life of a person lost to AIDS; "Keep the Promise" - letters from young people from around the globe asking their government leaders to do something more to fight the AIDS epidemic; "AIDS Epidemic Update" - maps and statistics of the current status of the world-wide AIDS epidemic. The exhibits are organized by UNAIDS with the assistance of the Department of Public Information, Newsweek Magazine, The AIDS Memorial Quilt Project and the Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance.
