The Disarmament Information Programme

The programme provides elected representatives, the media, non-governmental organizations, educational communities and research institutes with up-to-date information on developments in the area of arms control and disarmament through a combination of regional activities, information and education, training and special events.

The information and education component is served principally through a publications programme, the main products of which are The United Nations Disarmament Yearbook and Disarmament: a periodic review by the United Nations. The former is a reference work, written by the Secretariat, which covers the main trends in disarmament and reproduces relevant documentation, including texts of resolutions adopted by the General Assembly and data on their sponsorship and voting patterns. The latter, issued three times a year, brings together articles of topical interest solicited from members of the diplomatic or academic communities. In addition, the reference work Status of Multilateral Arms Regulation and Disarmament Agreements, which contains the texts of treaties and data on their status, is produced approximately every five years.

Under the programme, other series as well as a number of ad hoc publications have been produced from time to time. Titles and information concerning acquisition are available in the BIBLIOGRAPHY.
