The United Nations Language and Communications Programme (LCP) provides language training for staff at United Nations Headquarters (HQ) in New York.

Our students include United Nations staff and affiliated diplomats at HQ in New York.

Our courses in the six official United Nations languages, Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish,

promote linguistic balance and multilingualism within the Secretariat.
provide the opportunity to learn the official languages of the Organization, and
enhance the ability to perform professional duties with greater linguistic competence.

Our staff, highly qualified instructors and programme coordinators, also

collaborate with language trainers away from Headquarters;
teach intensive writing or 'train the trainer' courses at other duty stations; and
serve as proctors and examiners for the United Nations Language Proficiency Exam (LPE), which is now administered by the Exams and Testing Section (ETS).
