What is a Podcast?
A pocast is a series of digital-media files which are distributed over the Internet using Syndication Feeds for playback on portable media players and computers. The term Podcast, like broadcast, can refer either to the series of content itself or to the method by which it is syndicated; the latter is also called podcasting.
Podcasts are usually available online through content providers’ own websites in forms of multimedia files, which are arranged by categories/topics.
The difference between a podcast and traditional radio broadcasting or webcasting is that the podcast provides downloadable website material through the Syndication Feeds function, allowing users automatic access to updated information without any special constraints.
Another feature that makes podcasts unique is that they allow web users to publish podcasts through podcast websites to which interested listeners can subscribe. The subscribers can automatically receive language lessons and other new programs without searching for the content on a professional website. In terms of convenience, the podcast serves as an efficient venue for both those aiming to deliver content and their listeners.
